44 times! 44 comments I had to delete. 44 extra e-mails clogging my inbox (and hogging valuable space on my server for a while) and who knows how much time I’ve wasted taking care of someone else’s mess. Looks like for the time being my “Comment Moderation” will be on which means that future comments will be delayed in showing.

Wasted time and wasted money! Besides, bombarding someone’s website is not proper netiquette for what was suppose to be a test for advertising an alternative product. Now I know which website to avoid like the plague.

It was getting a hassle to clear out the bad comments so I decided to try something else to stop them in their tracks. It’s found on the WordPress Wiki plugins page.

Only humans will be able to post thus avoiding spamming bots. It generates a graphic code you need to read and copy into a new field in the comments block.

I tried it out and it works. This should stop the flood of non-topic related cryptic comments that keeps getting into my comment moderation box.

This time attachments with file the names:

The last two were sent together, how nice. Taking a closer look at the email headers (The same French header info as the emails I talked about a few days ago on the 15th.) and the common sender name this time, I realized this joker has emailed me before (Re: Past entry titled “Dig this…” from 28 October 03). I can’t really tell if this actual person deliberately sent these to me or not but it’s getting annoying. Luckily my email program has now trained itself to automatically mark it as junk mail.

Of course the recent four were sent with a “latinmail.com” email suffix. A popular spammer domain.

Ha! The Eklectik.com team?! Gee, what a minute, That’s me! Funny I don’t remember doing any “unauthorized access” on my account and sending myself and email to that affect preventing me from accessing my own email. Bad me. For shame! Go figure.

An attached file you say? Obvious ploy to get me to open an attachment in an email from a sender who is unknown—but in the case of the one from The Eklectik.com team, well there is no “The Eklectik.com team” Thank You, but no. Try again.

Who ever this asshole is (whether human or machine) they sent me some other emails too but with the sender email address changed. Apparently with a different attachment with them with names like: MoreInfo.pif, Toy.com, the_message.com and Info.scr. All of which to me spell out trouble (i.e. virus, trojan, phishing).

Some of the emails didn’t even have any regular plain text in the body of the message. Except one that only stated “I love you answer me please” and gave a website address. My sarcastic answer: “Oh, O.K. Uuh, I think it’s time we started seeing other people. Really, it’s been great, but I feel we’ve grown distant. We can still be friends alright?” I really didn’t respond to the email.

Most likely a phishing scam on that one. From the headers I think I’ve narrowed it down to it being supposedly sent from a French domain and an IP based in the Netherlands (Amsterdam).

O.K.?

I’ve owned this domain name for quite awhile now. What’s this? A new spam going araound? Are they trying to say they own a word that is part of my domain name?

I’ve heard of broken English before but broken French? Maybe the online translation is not up to snuff. It takes a lot to translate via code and computer and it’s not exactly 100% prefect. Who knows. I don’t even speak French or “rancais”—or could it be “rench”.

“Nice article.” and “More comment please? ” for persons who are leaving their URL web address as discounted life insurance companies and mailing companies can’’t be good. One word. SPAM! Both of these were left to the same entry called “Postal Mishap”.

Yes, that is all that is in the body of the comments. Cryptic as they may be they’re still abit meaning less and spam it seems.

These are no the only ones. There was one other previous comment left. Cryptic just the same. I think it was some reference to their liking of a certain school. Completely nothing to do with any of my entries.

(It also looks like I need to spend some time re-vamping how my comments page shows up once comments are posted. *sigh* Another day. Another time.)
