I got and e-mail Monday. The text reads (it did not have a subject, mind you):
tu parle rancais, je ne vais pas t’agresser. Je suis le proprietaire du mot EKLECTIK; il faut que tu m’expiques le comment du pourquoi
Google (and Altavista’s Babel Fish) translates it to this from French:
you speaks rancais, I will not attack you. I am the owner of word EKLECTIK; it is necessary that you me expic it how why
O.K.?
I’ve owned this domain name for quite awhile now. What’s this? A new spam going araound? Are they trying to say they own a word that is part of my domain name?
I’ve heard of broken English before but broken French? Maybe the online translation is not up to snuff. It takes a lot to translate via code and computer and it’s not exactly 100% prefect. Who knows. I don’t even speak French or “rancais”—or could it be “rench”.
