I was expecting 2 music CDs from Barnes & Noble.com. Since no one was home Saturday, wouldn’t you know it that’s the day the USPS decides to deliver it. I noticed a phone call on the Caller ID placed from the downstairs intercom at the time the mailman is usually stuffing the mailboxes.
Today the mailman came but only with something for my mother that she ordered. ? Nothing for me and no yellow notice stating that they made an attempt to deliver on Saturday. Online I had to check 2 websites for the tracking information. It was a “drop off” shipment meaning that the service that handled the package first would drop it off at the post office and from there USPS would take care of delivering it.
Now to call the local post office: I searched and search through 2 phone books for the post office numbers. Note: I hate the Verizon SuperPages. I like the way the old white pages were formated. Anyway, eventually I found quite a few post office branches numbers, but none was the local one I was looking for. I dialed one number figuring that I could just ask fro the local number. “…number has been disconnected…” I tried another number. “…number has been disconnected…” Looks like quite a few of the numbers have also been disconnected but I got one that stated the new forwarding number. Now people have to call using a 1-800 number (which is most likely based no where near any of the post offices). I went back online to print out the pages showing the tracking details.
Now to go directly to the local post office: First I checked downstairs with the on-duty guard in my building to see if anything was left from Saturday. Nothing. Get to the post office and get waited on by one of the clerks. The lady goes into the back room to search. I wait… and wait… and wait… the line of waiting people gets longer… and wait… Some lady at the end of the line asked me if I could ask the clerk when she gets back where can she pick up “Property Assessment forms”. Of all things! I didn’t even think the post office started handing them out? I knew of only a place Downtown where I use to work to get them (not even associated with USPS). I told her that I didn’t think the handed them out here. She later asked a worker who came walking around. <sarcasm>OOoooo! Lucky her to be a property owner!</sarcasm> Like I really wanted to be reminded of that shit place. The single most unprofessional experience I’ve ever been at (see reference below).
I digress… The package wasn’t there either but the lady did give me a number to call tomorrow to check on it.
