Samurai Saturdays & Super upper day

I don’t get to watch TV much. Especially cable. This morning I decided to turn on the TV and flip through to see what’s on before I went to a local thrift store that was closing and it’s employees moving to another store location (They opened at 9:00am). Turns out it was 75% off the whole store!

The remote control has a button for favorite channels which you can set. Since my mother doesn’t use this feature, I set it to a few of the channels that I find most interesting. Since it was around 8:30 in the morning a few of the stations only had Paid Programming on. Even Tech TV.

BBC America had on Ground Force, so I watched a little of that and then flipped on. I then came across IFC. Apparently IFC is having a thing that I surprisingly didn’t know about: “Samurai Saturdays”. Showcasing a movie I’ve never seen before.

GREAT! It’s called “Blind Swordsman’s Cane Sword“. All Japanese with English subtitles at the bottom. Didn’t see the beginning but I did see a blind man whip some butt with his cane and do a really kick butt moves with a pipe and a knife. A must see to understand. Since I found it at or a little before 8:30, I didn’t get to view the rest of it. Here’s the digital cable listing description:

“Blind Swordsman’s Cane Sword“ (1967)
When Zatoichi arrives at a new town overrun by yazuka, he discovers that his faithful cane sword has no more power. Shitaro Katsu.

It looked like a REALLY GOOD movie!

A local thrift store had their last day today. I found a little dish that looks like a little soy sauce (or other sauce) dish. Sticker said to the effect of $2.49 which means 62i??. An album The Doors to add to my other Doors records. Some clothing.

My mother went to another thrift store chain for their “last Saturday of the month” sale and found some containers that she has been looking for some time now. She found me some mint incense, Mye Incense, that were made in Thailand. Also 69i?? but the back is also marked Dollar Tree Dist. so it would normally cost a buck or so. She also got me a set of Universal Waite Tarot cards that were marked at 69i??. In the box with instructions looks hardly used. These decks usually cost up to 30x more. Now I have a deck that “returned back to me”:

When I was about 11 or 12 years old, I went on a class field trip on the Gateway Clipper Fleet here on the 3 rivers Pittsburgh. The Gateway Clipper is a large boat that has the big round paddle wheels on the back to move it. Afterwards we were allowed to go shopping at the shops in Station Square. I don’t know which shop it was, but I bought my first set of Tarot cards. About a year later I throw them away… a long story about my theory of cleansing. Long story short: you get rid of something and when “it’s” (and you)  are ready, (that is if it’s suppose to), “it” will come back.

Fact of the matter is, I though of replacing them but never did. I did get a Celtic version called the Robin Wood tarot but never re-bought the Waite type. Over the years I’ve had opportunity to buy a new set of Waite but I felt I was not ready. Ready or not… they “returned back to me”.
